    The category of swimming pool lights is a vast one. With the lighting technologies of today it is easy and often economical to turn your swimming pool into a work of art.

    Few things are as mesmerizing as the soft glow of underwater pool lights, particularly at night. Floating pool lights give a magical glow to nighttime swimming. And with the many choices of solar swimming pool lights, they can be a very energy efficient choice as well.

    Different types of lights that can be used for swimming pools are : in-ground pool lights, above ground pool lights, fiber optic lights, LED pool lights, fountain lights, and landscape lighting. You can select these lights depending upon your taste and on the type of pool you have.

    Fiber optic pool lights are popular and create strips of colors and colored light features. They can be used for perimeter and landscape lighting, but often the result is garish and over-the-top, and also it requires extensive installation. LEDs are the latest looks in pool lighting and are much easier to use than fiber optic lights.

    Pool lighting is an especially welcome touch when you plan on entertaining guests. Not only will your pool be more beautiful, it will be safer, too, particularly for people who have difficult night vision.

    When planning your pool lighting, it is a good idea to begin with lighting the pool deck if you have one. Solar deck lights may be an option. If so, youll appreciate them even more since they wont make your electricity bill increase.

    Plan the lighting design well. The entrance and the sitting areas should be well lit. Large lighting fixtures should be places in such a way that they do not become garish. Consider the corners and bends in the pool while planning the lighting design.

    Besides the general illumination purpose, you can use different pool lights for creating different moods and environment. You can use soft and dim lights for a relaxed feel where as bright lights for exercise purposes. With different kinds of pool lights you can make your swimming pool look more attractive.
