A home theater is not complete until it has a decent speaker system to go with it. In a perfect would, your surround sound would be Dolby 7 or a very least, Dolby 5. If you are going to spend your funds on a nice entertainment center, it wouldn't make sense to skimp on speakers or audio system. After you achieve your crisp picture, sound is the next most important component that help you enjoy your entertainment center.
you can go further than just that and get the whole deal. Purchase a 'bass shaker' for your surround sound system. These component can attach to your recliner or a couch. When something comes on the screen that is intense with a car wreck or some explosives, then the component will shake the couch or the chair you are sitting in giving added realism to the film or show.
My suggestion is that make a list of things for yourself, or maybe even a spreadsheet that your take with you when shopping around. Put a column for features that you have to have as opposed to the want to have features. And definitely shop around for your entertainment center. Make a budget for yourself that you a will not go over by even a penny, no matter how much a particular piece of media is screaming 'buy me, buy me.'
Watch for systems to go on sale, which they do on a frequent basis, and you can save yourself a wad of cash. If you are buying the components separately, my recommendation would be to buy them all from the same store. That way if there is a problem, you will not have the issue of "finger pointing" from the various stores trying to blame each other.
The smartest shopper is the one that gets the quality entertainment center for the lower sale price. Be aware, know what it is you are looking for, be willing to learn from an intelligent sales person that knows their stuff, and maintain your budget. You will definitely be able to enjoy the investment of the great entertainment center for years and years.
